As part of wrapping up the year, I have again made my list of the music that has had the greatest impact on me that was released this year. This isn’t a “Best of” list, per se, because I didn’t listen to everything released in 2020.
My Favorite Photographs of 2020 (12 Images)
My favorite photographs of 2020 are here. 2020 was not a particularly great year, as you know. But, even with the biggest pandemic in 102 years permanently changing the way we live and interact, there were small moments of peace and contemplation that I was able to document. I hope this collection helps bring some happiness to an otherwise depressing year.
November 2020 Photo of the Month
My November 2020 Photo of the Month is LM78, photographed with beautiful Fall Color in our local Laguna Mountains.
Fanita Ranch Is A Zombie
I don’t know much about zombies. What I do know is that they are neither alive nor dead, they are nearly impossible to kill, and they will eat your brains. That does seem to apply to the oft-proposed Fanita Ranch development in Santee.
October 2020 Photo of the Month: SN22
My October 2020 Photo of the Month is SN22, taken of the Old Highway 40 Rainbow Bridge near Donner Pass in the Sierra Nevada.
A Strange Lakers NBA Championship To Celebrate
With the Lakers winning their 17th NBA title tonight and finally catching the Celtics for most titles, I found myself struggling to celebrate. With 2020 being a year like no other, even something as great as a beloved sports team winning a championship is a strange thing to ponder.
Unprocessed Sunday: Too Much Photography
The biggest problem with photography is that there is too much photography. While processing a few photographs for my Unprocessed Sunday blog post series, I would like to explore the issues I have been thinking about with this medium in 2020.
Thank You, Mad Platter
The Mad Platter, my favorite record store back home in the Inland Empire, is now closing permanently due to consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am very sad about this, and I wanted to take a few moments to thank the store and its employees for nurturing my interest in music.
That Time I Was Bribed To Watch Red Hot Chili Peppers On YouTube
(Ed. Note – I was writing this post when news showed up that Eddie Van Halen passed away. RIP, EVH. I need to write some thoughts about you and Neil Peart very soon)
Full disclosure: The bribe happened way back a few seconds ago.
To put some of this in perspective, two separate events merged to make this unfortunate event happen.
