April 2026 Photo of the Month: SDRP8490

My April 2026 Photo of the Month is SDRP8490, taken from a hilltop at San Diego’s San Dieguito River Park.

This month’s image came from a quick hike with Alex (this location is in his neighborhood – I think we hit up a taco shop after but alas, don’t remember the name).

This hilltop doesn’t have a name.  While the default would be “Alex’s Hill,” he already has a claimed tree named after him, so we can only name so many things the same.

I have been stalking this location for some time.  The Lake Hodges Dam is not aging gracefully, and has been kept at a historically low level due to cracks and seismic concerns.  What that’s done is make the San Dieguito River….a river.  And I like how it looks better.

Now, this is far from a perfect image, for reasons I won’t get into.  But I decided I had fussed with it enough, and I don’t photograph too many sunsets these days, so this is what you get.

Are there others that may be a better fit?  Good question.  Perhaps one of these weekends, I will do an Unprocessed Sunday blog post and find some more photographs that need to see the light of day.
