Ten Albums That Made An Impact

A couple friends recently made posts about the 10 albums that affected them. See Alex’s list at this link.  See my friend Jeff’s post here.  This was great for a couple reasons. I am also nostalgic about the music I have listened to over the years, especially with an overflowing rack of CDs. The second was also to remind people that Facebook sucks and they will vacuum up the data from your personal posts and build more data on you. In addition, as Alex said, #SayNoToWalledGardens.

One of the truly remarkable things about Nirvana is how brief their journey with us was.  After a quiet debut on Sub Pop, they emerged 30 years ago today and were launched into reluctant superstardom, with that star fading with Kurt Cobain‘s death in 1994, just 2.5 years later.

20 Years Of Kid A

Kid A By Radiohead

I don’t remember if I purchased Radiohead’s Kid A on exactly October 2, 2000.  I probably did.  Back then, it was a quick lunch-time trip to Best Buy to browse their massive Compact Disc layout that took up most of the retail floor space.  On an end-cap, you would find the displays with all the “New Releases.”  I would have paid in cash.  Probably after I made the trip to the bank to cash my paycheck. I don’t think I even had a credit card in 2000.  I am not sure if I even had a checking account.
