My August 2024 Photo of the Month is WND627, the last in a series of monthly images made at San Diego’s Windansea Beach.

The Summer ennui continues. And when I think of making some images, I get in my car, and instinctively arrive at the same spot: Windansea. Of course, there are other locations, but this is often my default without thinking.
So we find ourselves here again. This is another sea stack, at the Southern end of the beach, where good surf and some careful timing created spray and falls along the rocks.
I could make these images every day, and during the Summer, seem to be the only thing I do. But Autumn is on the way, with moderate weather coming, and I will feel snapped out of the doldrums and a lot of possibilities to consider.
I did make it out to Colorado in August, but was working (while on vacation) at a conference, and there was no time at all for landscape photographs. We were also in a hurry to return home. The highlight was probably our two visits to Barstow Del Taco, but you generally don’t make landscape photographs while eating a Del Beef burrito there.
But luckily, Windansea is always there, always waiting, and when you are lacking a creative spark, has enough to hold your attention for years and years.
At some point, I may no longer live in San Diego, and despite the thousands of photographs I have taken here, I know I will miss this place. That being said, I think I will give the place a bit of a rest for a few months.
As always, thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed the image.
