How many photos at Windansea Beach is too many?  I suppose I am trying to find out.

In my ongoing quest to avoid people, I have been going to the beach in the mornings and avoiding the crowds.  Even in the Winter months, in our usual mild weather, sunsets can be very busy with a lot of people.  And I have grown to enjoy the mornings.

Here you get a little more peace, quiet, solitude, and a chance to further enjoy what draws you to the coast in the first place.

I purposely don’t look at the tide charts when I get here, preferring a clean slate that requires me to compose with exactly what is in front of me.  That being said, I most enjoy the period in the mornings when the coastal marine layer begins to break up, and a mix of clouds and blue sky help accent the coast, beach, and seastacks.

This is one such place, a small channel in the rock formations that creates a little alcove.  My San Diego photo friends and colleagues may recognize this spot.  This result took a lot of experimentation, as the tide was low, so coming up with something I liked without the waves filling this alcove like they do at high tide took some work.

So why come to Windansea so much?  I would say that this beach offers an infinite number of compositions, and variations in season, tide, and other factors adds even more opportunities to photograph.

Perhaps I should be looking in other places in San Diego, but I still love this place.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed the images.
