Good Neighbors

Photographed: 2013

This portion of the border fence between the United States and Mexico exists near Campo, California at the Southern terminus of the Pacific Crest Trail.

This fence divides people, cultures, hopes, and dreams. Dreams are shared by all cultures though, and with our historical and cultural influence we share with our Southern neighbors, it is a wonder that this walls needs to exist at all.

Someday, this border can be the point to shake hands with friends, not unnecessarily divide us.

T.M. Schultze is a San Diego-based photographer, traveller, and writer. He writes, photographs, and draws things of the outdoors that have inspired humans for thousands of years. He co-authored the Photographer’s Guide to Joshua Tree Park which can be purchased here.
