Location: Laguna Mountains, San Diego County, California
During a storm that had enveloped most of the lower elevations in San Diego County, I found this favorite stop along Sunrise Highway as the point where the rain shadow could be seen in real time. I made a 30 second exposure to better illustration the exact point where the storm clouds melted into water vapor, depriving Granite Mountain and lower Anza Borrego the water it craved for. This forest-chaparral-desert transition zone has always amazed me.
