Wildflowers, Great Sand Dunes, Black and White
Sunflower PatchSunflower Patch
Location: Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado
A combination of summer monsoonal weather with the high altitude of Great Sand Dunes National Park means that August is a great time for sunflowers. In San Diego County, where I live, most wildflowers are done by the end of March.
The dunes are large and famous, but there are a number of "dry" basins throughout the foothills of the dunes. It is here where the sunflowers grow and bloom during the Summer.
The clouds, shadows, and sunflowers make for a great image.
